We had the pleasure to work with the Lester Family on the interior of their wine cave, which sits back on their gorgeous vineyard in Aptos.  They wanted this two room structure to have the feel of an actual cave, not only for the backdrop for their racks of wine but also for the cases displaying artifacts that have been collected on expeditions over the years. The front room serves as a private tasting room, and the back is a temperature controlled room for wine storage. We chose rich, earthy colors with bits of turquoise intertwined to give the cave feeling.

This faux finish was a five layer glazing process following the base coat painting.

They also commissioned paintings on canvas to hang in the back room with symbolic cave art images. These paintings served an additional purpose of covering the  fuse box that sat in the middle of the wall.
